It’s gotta be said, lazy days in Ibiza, feel like they’re almost mandatory.

Doesn’t matter where you are on the island or even why you came, there’s always a more chilled vibe during the day time in Ibiza (swiftly followed by a manic, borderline-crazy energy at nights) which is so different from everyday life back at home but this is what you came for, right? 😉

After a long lazy day filled with nothing but cocktails and pool time at the Migjorn Ibiza, we decided to re-visit an old favourite in Ibiza – Cala Comte.

Cala Comte is an absolutely stunning beach by day (with a handful of brilliant restaurants and bars within walking distance) but its an absolutely essential spot to visit when you’re in Ibiza for its amazing sunsets!

The sun seems to shine brighter from this amazing viewpoint and watching it paradoxically glow brighter and brighter as it dips over the horizon is absolutely fantastic!

Heads up though – this starts to get popular amongst other sunset fanatics so arrive early for a decent spot. 🙂

After watching the sunset, we headed off to what promised to be a brilliant find in Ibiza – Mar a Vila restaurant which is also in the heart of Ibiza’s old town and again, had been raved about by locals and tourists alike.

And that isn’t just some broad claim I’m making up either 🙂 – this is number 15 out of 437 restaurants in Ibiza so we’re talking top 3% here.

On arrival, we made our way to the outdoors bit(which was covered up at the time) and promptly started off with the cocktails…

…which were swiftly followed by cured meats, cheeses and a dusting of pistachio!

Needless to say, I’m a HUGE fan of that Spanish ham! *licks lips*

We kicked things off with a wooden box, housing a special (and surprising) little treat…

…nut covered black pudding, served with two dips.

Confession – I’ve never been a fan of black pudding so I was skeptical at first but all of my skepticism disappeared at first bite!

But seriously though, moments like this remind me again and again never to judge a book by its cover as typically, I would have skipped past this on a menu and I’m so glad I didn’t skip it!

We went with the tasting menu, which is quickly becoming a favourite option of mine when available in any restaurant thanks for the sheer surprise factor alone, and our reaction every time a new course showed up at our table was pretty much like kids at christmas time – staring in wonder and eager to open up the boxes as soon as we possibly could!

The picnix box was home to thin breads, apple slices and crisp breads…. along with foie and preserves!

A perfect little picnic combo!

We moved on to the grilled octopus, which I loved so much… (yes, I may have had an extra bite of Lloyd when he wasn’t looking).

We moved on to a crispy crackling with tomatoes in a dip which was eclipsed by my favourite of the lot…

…miniature lamb kebabs!!! Shredded lamb, tiny little bread holders (not their official name, just what I resorted to calling them) and they even had the mini vegetables to go with it!

It was absolutely brilliant!!!

We took a little pre-dessert detour with a palate cleansing cocktail called a lazy donkey! Its a Spanish take on the Russian mule and its absolutely fantastic. (It goes down faaaar too easily! 😉 )

… followed with mint and vanilla ice cream along with chocolate pieces.

There was a brief stop in the proceedings for a digestif (or two)…

Definitely one of my favourite ways to spend an evening in Ibiza! 🙂 🙂 🙂
