Performance Features:
Our USA made, NFC, hand-sanded, naked-graphite blanks, do not hide blemishes and are on average 20% lighter than their coated counterparts. All of our blanks are hand-sanded to avoid sanding into the fiber, damaging it and creating a weak spot.
Proprietary, made in the USA, offset seat for a lower sitting reel leads to better torque/rod roll control, increases casting accuracy, and enhances cradling of reel reducing wrist fatigue.
Proprietary lock-nut for a vice-like grip eliminates rocking reels.
Minimum epoxy on guide feet reduces weight and impact to blank action.
All guides feature a recessed ring design (RRD) creating enhanced bonding between ring and frame while protecting ring from impact. Angled tri-legged frame design eliminates nearly all line wrap, and improves casting distance and accuracy.
Our carbon-fiber grips wipe down and clean up like new after aggressive and successful days on the water.
Black Widow
Hand-woven carbon-fiber strips amplify vibration and increase sensitivity. Each grip has a unique weave, with a satin smooth comfortable feel that becomes slightly tacky when wet.
ALPS MXN Titanium frame with Zirconium insert guides are corrosion resistant (saltwater) and 40% lighter than comparable guides.
First Strike
20% lighter than cork and has a shelf life of 5,000 years, this tight hand woven, carbon-fiber saves weight and increases sensitivity.
ALPS MXN Stainless Steel frame, with Zirconium insert guides are corrosion resistant (saltwater) and 40% lighter than comparable models.
Gary Loomis could probably credit finding the Summer Steelhead run on the Kalama River, for his career in building and selling rods.
He was only making $50 a week as a machinist at the time, and built his own rod to conquer that river in 1972. Another angler cornered him in the parking lot
and talked him out of his rod for $200. As they say, the rest is history. We can credit the Pacific Salmon for spawning EDGE Rods in 2010 when this series made
its mark after Gary was asked to build a special Salmon rod for a competition to see how various rods stacked up against one another for Salmon Steelhead Journal.
That first build won and the winning streak has yet to be broken for this foundational series of EDGE. The First Strike and Black Widow builds are the quintessential
performance designs for Gary’s favorite species. From the Pacific Northwest, to the Midwest, to Chile, to Russia, anglers are covered for every kind of fishing scenario
for these fish. Be it side drifting, hover fishing, or back bouncing, EDGE Ambassadors, who are some of the most talented and longest careered guides in the world, swear
that they catch more fish because of the performance of the rods. That says everything.
Inshore
An excellent 12-pound test, one-piece plug rod for salmon and steelhead. The 760 is also a perfect spinner rod for small rivers, and a terrific rod for drifting small baits for summer steelhead and fall silvers. It has a magnum-power butt and quick, light tip that delivers fast, accurate casts and good fish-fighting ability - whether you’re fishing from a boat or the bank.
Salmon/Steel/UL
This rod’s blank design is unique - versatility is the name of the game with this model - Its unique design features an extra fast, fine tip for easy bite detection, easier casting of both bait and lures, but a powerful mid section to be able to control the fight of the fish. Ideal for heavier jigs, throwing bigger blades/spinners and spoons.
Delta Bass
This rod’s blank design is unlike any other SJR we make, and it is a lot more powerful than its rating sounds. Its unique design features a soft, flexible tip for tossing both bait and lures, but the magnum butt-section is very powerful, giving you total control. This rod is perfect for throwing jigs in situations with heavy current.

Salmon/Steel/UL
The original Gary Loomis plug rod, designed to fish Hot Shots, Wiggle Warts and other deep-diving steelhead lures. Built with a really fast taper and a magnum-power butt, this rod works well for light-duty backbouncing as well. But the place it really shines is in cross-over duties on the hunt for stripers and small sturgeon. It casts lures of up to a couple ounces no problem, and will handle up to 4 ounces in a trolling/mooching situation. The long rear grip and trigger reel seat give you total control.
Salmon/Steel/UL
A more powerful version of the Gary Loomis plug rod, designed to fish Hot Shots, Wiggle Warts and other deep-diving steelhead lures. This particular rod was developed for big fish areas like Tillamook Bay in Oregon or the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska, where you need larger plugs and more lead to be effective. Its fast taper and magnum butt work well for backbouncing bait and it is a real workhorse for stripers and small sturgeon. Able to cast lures of up to a couple ounces and handle up to 5 ounces in a trolling/mooching situation, the rod’s long rear grip and trigger reel seat give you total control.

Salmon/Steel/UL
Here’s a really good 12-pound test rod for almost any spin situation. Long enough for extended casts, but never cumbersome, the HSR 760 makes an exceptional flats rod for redfish, bonefish and permit as well as its original targets, steelhead and smaller salmon species. A perfect spinner rod for small rivers, it has a magnum-power butt and a quick, light tip that delivers fast, accurate casts and good fish-fighting ability - whether you’re fishing from boat or bank. This rod also makes a nice one-piece rod for schoolie stripers and small bluefish. As new techniques come to light, some rods just shine. If you are twitching for silvers in the Pacific Northwest, the action of the 760 is perfect for picking up jigs.
