On average, winter steelies run larger than their summer cousins, so the extra backbone is a big advantage. Designed for winter steelhead, where you need a little more backbone due to the larger weights required to fish high water conditions, the StR 865-2 has sufficient power to fish Chinook salmon. But it is actually best suited for silvers and chums. Because it has the power to move fish and bring them boat-side without a chase, this is a good choice for both boat and bank fishing. Additionally, it is a good alternative rod for stripers, blues and other medium-size saltwater species.

Delta Bass
If you fish large surface lures and medium-size crankbaits, you will want a CBG 714. It is a great rod for deep-diving lures like a Fat Free Shad or Wiggle Wart, and it’ll throw a Rattle Trap the proverbial country mile. Stout enough to handle spinnerbaits and large buzzbaits, this rod also crosses over nicely for most light saltwater flats applications, including reds, bonefish, permit and sea trout. The slower action of our crankbait rods allows anglers fishing shrimp to land the bait very quietly, and that is a definite plus, especially in shallow water where the fish are spooky.
